The Waste, Recycling Industry Association of Queensland (WRIQ) is the premier industry association representing waste businesses in Queensland. Joining WRIQ ensures your business has a voice, gives you access to WRIQ publications and events and will give you the tools to develop and grow your business.

The Association offers four different classes of membership.

  1. Corporate Membership
  2. Associate Membership
  3. Associate Membership – Business
  4. Individual Membership

 

1) Corporate Membership

To be eligible for a Corporate Membership, the applicant’s core business activity should be contracting to federal, state or local government, or the private sector, to provide services relating to sanitation, waste management, recycling, materials processing, resource management, demolition, waste transport or disposal or other related disciplines, including in the state of Queensland.
This membership category is suited to any business that has its core operations in the waste industry.

 2) Associate Membership

Our Associate Membership (Government) is available to local, state and federal  government waste management departments and other government departments that are involved with waste and recycling. For example, Councils or state government departments with waste management responsibilities, Associate member representatives may attend Annual General Meetings in an observer capacity and can serve on an established technical group, but cannot nominate or be nominated for the Executive Committee and have no formal voting rights.

 

This membership category is suited to local, state or federal government departments that have waste and recycling as their primary function or departments that benefit from being aware of waste industry developments as part of a wider portfolio.

 

Associate Membership Benefits

Associate members (Government and Business) have year round access to the following benefits:

  • Online access to WRIQ information and education resources
  • Discounted education programs
  • Meltwater media updates with the latest waste industry related news
  • Weekly WRIQ email with information on advocacy, regulation, benefit updates and networking events
  • Urgent WRIQ notification emails regarding important issues

Annual Associate Membership (Government) Fees (GST exclusive)

3) Associate Membership (Business)

Our Associate Membership (Business) is available to companies and other organisations which have waste management operations which supplement their core business. For example factories with composting machinery, farms with waste management equipment or not for profit organisations with an interest in waste and recycling. An associate member may also supply the waste industry as part of their wider operations or partner with a waste company as part of its core activities. Associate member representatives may attend Annual General Meetings in an observer capacity and can serve on an established technical group, but cannot nominate or be nominated for the Executive Committee and have no formal voting rights.

This membership category is suited to companies that are involved in the waste and recycling industry or have waste management as a key, but not core, part of their business

Annual Associate Membership (Business) fee – $1500 + GST

4) Individual Membership

Staff members representing organisations eligible for corporate or associate membership may apply for individual membership. Also, if your position at any other type of organisation relates to waste management or recycling we would welcome your application as an Individual. Examples include waste, sustainability or environment officers for companies engaged in any business activity, waste officers at local councils, sustainability professionals with the state government or representatives of not for profit organisations involved in waste or recycling.
